According to Xinhua News Agency on December 19, at 23:59 on December 18, Beijing time, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Liugou Township, Baoan Dongxiang Salar Autonomous County, Jishishan, 8 kilometers away from Jishishan County and 39 kilometers away from Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture.

On the evening of December 18, Mr. Ding, who lives in Meipo Village, Dahejia Town, Jishishan County, and his family were about to sleep when they felt the ground shaking. After about a minute, he realized there was an earthquake. Afterwards, Mr. Ding and his family of three ran out of the house and spent the night warming themselves by the fire with the villagers.
Meipo Village is about 20 kilometers away from the epicenter. On the 19th, Mr. Ding told The Paper that there are more than 180 households in Meipo Village. Most of the houses in the village are brick houses. After the earthquake, a large number of houses had cracks and were "uninhabitable." Pictures and videos sent by Mr. Ding show that many houses have cracks on their surfaces, tiles have fallen off, and some walls have collapsed, exposing brick walls.

Mr. Ding said that after the earthquake, the power was interrupted, traffic was not affected, and the villagers had enough food. The main problem was that the houses were damaged. Mr. Ding said that he planned to live in a tent with his family tonight and spend time by the fire.
Mr. Li, who lives in Gaji Village, Liugou Township, Jishishan County, said that he felt an earthquake at home last night and shook for "a few minutes."
Gaji Village is about 10 kilometers away from the epicenter. Mr. Li said that there are more than 300 households in Gaji Village. Some villagers took refuge in cars, while others lived in disaster relief tents and relied on firewood to keep warm. Mr. Li also drove his car to the village square to avoid danger. The local temperature was as low as minus ten degrees Celsius at night. He and his family turned on the heater in the car. "It snowed two days ago, but luckily it didn't snow last night."

Two hours later, they and other residents in the community returned home one after another. They returned home and did not continue to rest. They sat at home with their clothes on and waited.
After a 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in Jishishan County, some water, electricity, transportation, communications and other infrastructure were damaged.
