DoNews reported on December 16 that Tencent News "First Line" learned from multiple sources that Tang Xiaoou, chairman of SenseTime Technology and artificial intelligence scientist, unfortunately passed away in his sleep on December 15.
According to public information, Tang Xiaoou was born in Anshan, Liaoning Province. He is a professor of the Department of Information Engineering and an outstanding scholar of the School of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Tang Xiaoou graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1990; received a master's degree from the University of Rochester in 1991; received a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996, and then worked at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; in 2001, he founded the Multimedia Laboratory of the Chinese University of Hong Kong; in 2005 From 2007 to 2007, he worked at Microsoft Research Asia as the Director of the Visual Computing Group. In 2008, he worked at the Multimedia Integration Technology Research Laboratory of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology as Director and Researcher.
Tang Xiaoou is mainly engaged in research in computer vision-related fields, including multimedia, computer vision, pattern recognition and video processing.
