Orator of this essay: Bai Yu (1898-1989), a native of Huarong County, Hunan, was admitted to the Hunan Provincial First Normal School in 1915, and had classmates with Cai Hesen, Xiao Yu and Mao Zedong. After the May Fourth Movement broke out, he participated in the Hunan Student Movement. He joined the Kuomintang in 1920 and was admitted to Moscow Sun Yat-sen University in 1925. After returning to China, he served as an instructor at the Central Military Academy and concurrently served as a professor at Wu Song Chinese Public School, National Shanghai Business School, National Jinan University, and National Central University. After moving to Taiwan, he became a professor at Chengchi University and moved to the United States in his later years.
(Mao Zedong and his father Mao Shunsheng (second from left), etc.)
Although Mao Zedong’s family is a poor peasant, there are dozens of tons of millet income every year. The banknotes issued by the Bank of Hunan Province, Mr. Tan Yankai stopped cashing when he was in Hunan. The value of the currency plummeted and the Mao family went bankrupt. The reason was that his father, in addition to farming farmers, also ran a small grocery store in the village. The banknotes borrowed from local tyrants and evil gentry must be repaid. Yinyang, and the debt he released, they only repay the bank notes, so he is in debt.
The Hunanese have stopped redemption of banknotes in the provincial bank, and the middle-class family has a lot of bankruptcies. In this regard, I don't understand Tan very much, and give him a ridiculously used ticket paper into a Wanmin umbrella.
(Tan Yankai)
In the spring of fifteen years, Wang Jingwei went to France. The Guangzhou National Government was acted as chairman by Mr. Tan Yankai. I went to Russia on behalf of my classmates. As Bao’s residence did not reply, he also had "no comment." While chatting, Mr. Tan is an amiable elderly. He asked me why I would not study abroad in Europe and America after graduating from a domestic university. I blurted out: "Affected by the banknotes of Hunan Province, my family has gone bankrupt." He Lian said, "I'm sorry. Sorry!" I have been unable to take back my words. Mr. Tan's personality, morals, and deeds should not be ignored by anyone. However, finance and economics are not his strong point. Improper use of people is indisputable.
Mr. Tan has been an official throughout his life, and his staff are all poets and writers, and there is no modern character. In the past, there were few civilians in Sanxiang, and it was very difficult. There are many Hunanese in the Communist Party. What a pity! For a period of time, the Communist Party intensified the exaggeration of the rumor that the Hunanese "will not enter the cabinet, and the military will not seal Xinjiang".
