1905 Film Network News Recently, the 77th Cannes Film Festival announced that this year’s Honorary Palme d’Or will be awarded to Studio Ghibli. This is the first time in the history of Cannes that the Honorary Palme d’Or is awarded to a team rather than an individual.
Studio Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki said: "I am very honored and happy that the studio has won the Honorary Palme d'Or." I sincerely thank the Cannes Film Festival. Forty years ago, Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and I founded Studio Ghibli to bring high-level, high-quality animation to children and adults of all ages.
He also said that although Hayao Miyazaki and I are not young, I am sure that Studio Ghibli will meet new challenges under the leadership of colleagues who inherit the philosophy of the studio. I will be very happy if everyone continues to look forward to our new work.
