On August 18, the reporter learned from Wuzhou Performing Arts Co., Ltd. that the large-scale modern Cantonese opera "Choice", a large-scale modern Cantonese opera created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, has been put into tension recently after more than a year of preparations. During the rehearsal, the Cantonese opera is expected to have its first public performance in Wuzhou on September 10.
It is understood that the large-scale modern Cantonese opera "Choice" is directed by the well-known director Tong Weiwei, and Ou Kaiming, a famous Cantonese opera artist and Chinese drama plum blossom award winner, is the leading actor. The play depicts the famous democratic revolutionist Mr. Li Jishen responding to the call of "May 1st". Under the care of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other CCP leaders, under the planning of Hong Kong underground party organizations, he overcome all difficulties to break through the numerous obstructions of the Kuomintang, and resolutely went north and arrived. The Northeast Liberated Area and the Communist Party of China discussed the country, preparing for the glorious achievement of building a new China.

On August 18, at the Wuzhou Cantonese Opera Protection and Inheritance Base, more than a dozen actors on stage are rehearsing intensively, and Ou Kaiming, who plays the leading role, is also watching his script intently. "Now for the fifth rehearsal, let's gnaw off the'hard bones' first." After a short break, Zhang Lei, the executive director of "The Choice", began to organize the actors on stage for rehearsals. Zhang Lei said that the fifth scene describes a scene in which Li Jishen is faced with multiple choices to make a final decision. It is not only a scene that highlights the theme but also the core link.
Zhang Lei said that unlike the traditional Cantonese opera performances that have formed a relatively complete performance system, the actors of "Choice" will face modern themes of theatrical performances, which are about real historical events and what the actors want to perform. It is also a real historical figure. This requires actors not only to have their own artistic qualities, but more importantly, how to show the well-known Wuzhou celebrity Li Jishen on the stage and gain the recognition of the audience is a big challenge. According to reports, in addition to the special design of the stage, the play will also use high-tech and modern methods, and use brand-new multimedia projections to reproduce the real historical scenes and show the images of some historical newspapers and letters. The audience felt the tension at the time.
After a year of preliminary preparations, the play has been put into rehearsal a few days ago, striving to hold its first public performance in Wuzhou on September 10. At the same time, I hope to tour and participate in various art festivals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other places.
