According to reports, unlike some dedicated camera sensors, , the time-of-flight (ToF) sensor of the model VL53L7CX does not capture images , so it can protect the privacy of users.

VL53L7CX expands the field of view to 90° (diagonally), claims to be "almost equivalent to the level of a camera" , which enhances the perception of the surroundings of the scene, improves the performance of presence detection and system activation, for example, activating the screen or waking up ovens, coffee machines and other devices.

STMicroelectronics officially stated that the VL53L7CX can realize 3D scene imaging and simultaneously measure the distance to multiple objects in multiple areas .
