The Trademark Office of the State Intellectual Property Office held that the "Fan Bingbing" trademark was similar to other trademarks such as "FANBINGBING" (referred to as the cited trademark) previously registered by others, and therefore rejected the "Fan Bingbing" trademark application.
Fan Bingbing's Wuxi Meitao Jiayi Film and Television Culture Studio (hereinafter referred to as Wuxi Meitao Studio) refused to accept and appealed to the court.
During the court hearing, the cited trademark was decided not to be registered, and the trademark "Fan Bingbing" no longer constitutes a prior right obstacle. Therefore, the court ruled that Wuxi Meitao Studio won the case and cancelled the reply of the State Intellectual Property Office that rejected Fan Bingbing's application for trademark registration Decision.
This also means that Fan Bingbing's "Fan Bingbing" trademark will be approved for registration, and Fan Bingbing's team can more confidently carry out commercial expansion.
It is understood that Wuxi Meitao Studio is 100% controlled by Fan Bingbing for commercial expansion. The studio has 500+ trademarks, mainly related to the names of "Fan Bingbing" and her brother "Fan Chengcheng".
