Design concept
The main goal of the project is to promote and promote the completion of carbon-absorbing buildings to slow down or even reduce the rising global temperature. Facing the worsening global warming problem, all enterprises have the responsibility to urge and participate in the incentive plan formulated by the local government to reduce carbon emissions, especially the industries related to industry and transportation. The Taozhu Yinyuan residential apartment is named after Tao Zhugong (Fan Li) in the Spring and Autumn Period of China, in order to inherit his concept of benefiting himself, neighbors and the world.
architects tried to create an energy self-sufficient apartment building with an ecological design approach. These energy sources include electricity, heat, and energy absorbed by the building. The shape of Taozhu Yinyuan is derived from the double helix structure of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), implying the source of life, vitality, and pairing. Each double helix corresponds to a complete floor consisting of two apartments. Across the tower's 20-storey double helix from base to top, the residential apartment building is twisted a total of 90°, embodying the idea of balance the project hopes to ultimately achieve. Each floor of the
residential apartment building will be rotated 4.5° clockwise, which also makes the building present different shapes at various angles, including V-shape, X-shape, ellipse and cone. The architect hopes to achieve 4 main goals through this specific 90° twisted shape:
- Integrate the cone areas on the north and south sides of the building to comply with the urban style regulations formulated by the Taipei City Government.
- Maximize the open-air sky garden under the condition that the plot ratio allows, so that the green planting area of the terrace far exceeds the stipulated 10%.
- Provide the widest possible viewing angle for the internal residents, especially the viewing conditions of Taipei 101 Tower and the central business district.
- Use the special standard layer formed by the twisted shape to provide residents with the necessary visual shielding and privacy requirements.
Anti-global warming + low-carbon ecosystem
In order to better reflect the concept of symbiosis between buildings and nature, the project will plant more than 23,000 trees and shrubs, and the green coverage rate will reach 246%. tons of carbon sequestration. This figure is also 5 times the standard of the local incentive plan. Thanks to the planting of a large number of trees and shrubs, Tao Zhuyin Garden will present different natural colors throughout the year, becoming a veritable vertical forest. In order to better ensure the carbon absorption of the building, the project also consulted many botanical experts during the promotion stage to determine the final tree and shrub planting table. These trees and shrubs on the balcony provide oxygen and moisture, and can also absorb the surrounding environmental noise well. The realization of the vertical forest also makes the whole building appear warm in winter and cool in summer.
This residential apartment also has natural ventilation chimney ducts installed to filter the air in the central core area of the building. In addition, the architect also integrated rainwater recycling system, wireless monitoring and control system of LED lighting, optical fiber connection network, light guide system and solar/wind energy to achieve the core goal of energy saving and emission reduction.
Taozhu Yinyuan is a perfect fusion of innovative science, bioclimatic passive systems and active technologies in the field of architecture. The iconic balcony of the apartment building is the epitome of the green organic ecosystem of the building. With sufficient natural light, it also brings enough vegetation and green plants to the residents:
- 165 square meters of sky garden per household;
- 270-degree panoramic view Ornamental field of vision;
- the planting quantity of 14 large trees on each floor;
- a ground art park of 6,600 square meters.
The Ground Art Park has planted more than 100 arbor vegetation, and with the design of high hedges, it has become a dense forest in the urban environment. The architect even retracted the red line of the construction part, freeing up 5 to 6.5 meters of sidewalks equipped with landscape parks.total space.
An air-purifying urban forest
Taozhu Yinyuan tries to limit the ecological footprint of residents by designing an appropriate symbiotic relationship between man and nature, so as to establish a vertical landscape belt with real low energy consumption. Residents of the building can enjoy a new lifestyle in line with nature and climate conditions through vertical urban farms, truly realizing the vision of symbiosis between man and nature.
In order to better deal with the current air pollution problem, Tao Zhu Yin Garden filters the air in the central core area of the building through the setting of natural ventilation chimney pipes. The architect installed a special device at the base of the building, which can draw air from the ground by heating the air, and release clean air to the top after it passes through a series of filters. The purpose-built device at the bottom is powered by solar energy.
High-strength earthquake-resistant and column-free structure
The main columns used in the mining steel structure of Taozhu Yinyuan are the same strength steel as that used in Japan Sky Tree. The truss structure of the main body of the building resembles the two arms of the human body, while the giant structural columns on both sides are the ski poles held by the hand. The special Vierendeel Truss structure design allows the weight of the building to be perfectly transmitted to the foundation piles in the ground, realizing the unity of function and aesthetics. The characteristics of high toughness and high earthquake resistance of the
building ensure the robustness of the Taozhu Yinyuan. In fact, the project also incorporates nuclear power plant level seismic requirements and is designed for a peak ground acceleration of 400 gallons. Basement floors are from EPS Inc. (Earthquake Systems). This floor can resist earthquakes with a maximum magnitude of 7, and will not be damaged after the earthquake, let alone ductile fracture. This anti-seismic level even exceeds the maximum consideration range within the 2500-year earthquake return period stipulated in the " seismic design code " of the Ministry of the Interior. The special 90° twisted shape of the
building also refers to the traditional Tai Chi concept to a certain extent. The building structure is rotated 4.5° on each floor, so that the internal residents can enjoy a 270° panoramic view. The special structural design of Taozhu Yinyuan makes each residential unit an open space without columns. In this way, residents can fully enjoy the vegetation landscape of the outdoor terrace.
In addition, the project reduced shrinkage waste during the construction phase by backfilling and reusing the original mud walls. The architects even used seismic-isolation joints around the basement and designed a double-glazed skin system around the central core to create a naturally ventilated and light-conducting interior environment.
Urban Vertical Forest
In order to ensure the longevity and tolerance of vegetation on the balcony and roof garden of each household, the project also adopted two means of light analysis and thermal analysis in the plant selection stage, and simulated typhoon and heavy rain in Taiwan through wind and rain experiments , to ensure the tolerance and resistance of the selected plants.
Dr. Zhang Fong-Chun from Japan also strictly checked the trees and shrubs selected for this project to ensure that these plants can maintain a good health in the urban environment. Dr. Zhang Fong-Chun also emphasized the importance of micro-meteorological factors for plants to fully perform their functions. The building structure of Tao Zhu Yin Garden also reserves space for load and planting depth for the construction of balcony green plants in advance. The pipe distribution and drainage system related to the planting, as well as the stainless steel flower boxes are finally perfectly embedded in the overall structure of the building.
Breathing ecological building
The construction of Taozhu Yinyuan is dedicated to creating a comfortable and healthy living environment for residents.
health:
- interior decoration uses a lot of bio-based and recyclable materials, showing the concept of environmental friendliness and respect for circular economy.
- The shock-isolation connection and window design on the ground floor allow fresh air to reach the parking spaces on each of the four underground floors, creating a breathable underground parking lot. In addition, the seismic isolation joints and the double-wall design of the basement, also ensures the quality of natural ventilation and natural lighting in the underground space, thus providing a more comfortable underground parking experience.
Sustainability:
- The double-layer glass curtain wall in the central core area not only forms natural ventilation, but also reduces the energy consumption of air conditioning by reducing the indoor temperature. The
- double-layer slab floor design allows residents to freely arrange their own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom spaces, and avoids noise interference caused by pipeline maintenance or interior decoration. The
- utilizes the existing mud walls around the basement to reduce the need for foundation excavation.
- The large-scale use of solar and wind energy systems has reduced CO2 emissions to 35 tons per year.
- achieves the goal of energy saving and emission reduction through the integration of regenerative elevators, high-efficiency air conditioners, LED lighting and water-saving flushing systems.
- The pool is heated on the basement level by the setup of a reversible heat pump system. The
- solves the water supply demand of the garden sprinkler through the setting of the rainwater recovery system.
In general, Tao Zhu Yin Garden is a perfect embodiment of the symbiosis between man and nature. And a vertical urban forest that can absorb carbon emissions is undoubtedly the direction of urban future development. Tao Zhu Yin Garden is a practical response to global warming, reflecting people's concern and care for green vegetation, as well as their sincere heart for a sustainable future. The project hopes to arouse public concern and thinking about climate warming and carbon emission absorption, and jointly write the future of Taiwan and the world.
