Fire dragon dancing is a traditional custom during the Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong. In Tai Hang, Hong Kong, the "Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance", a traditional folk event with a history of more than 100 years, will be performed for three consecutive days starting from the 16th, adding a festive atmosphere to the whole city.
reporter Jin Dong: I am at the event site now. You can see that next to me, this fire dragon is parading and dancing along the streets to the sound of cheerful gongs and drums. We can feel the very warm atmosphere at the site. , seemed particularly lively.
At the performance site, scenes such as "dragon wagging its tail" and "dragon wedding" were staged one after another. The giant dragon in the hands of the dragon dancer is covered with lit longevity incense, chasing the dragon beads and dancing, sometimes like a flying dragon in the sky, sometimes like a dragon entering the sea, roaring "swimming" into the next street. The long dragon rolled and jumped, constantly pushing the atmosphere to a climax. In addition, a team of about 100 teenagers danced a small fire dragon lit by about 10,000 LED lights to appear at , symbolizing the passing on of traditional customs from generation to generation.
In 2011, the Dakeng Fire Dragon Dance was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Project List. In 2019, the Dakeng Fire Dragon Dance was included in the "Excellent Protection Practice Cases for National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Projects" .
