"Yaoyaodongba" is a poem written by Lai Shengchuan to Shanghai. The story takes place in an old warehouse in Hongkou District, Shanghai. The novelist Shu Tong, played by Dou Jin, is led by a mysterious piece of music "One Day, I Will Find You" in this place that was once the base of the anti-Japanese underground party. Connecting to 1943, a dialogue between two time and space begins with Bai Shi, played by Fan Guangyao, who used to secretly do anti-Japanese underground work here. In 1943, Baishi, his companion Lao Li, and a female undercover Anna who looked exactly like Shu Tong, delivered secret information through the radio. Shu Tong in 2019 felt this era full of heroism in the juxtaposition of time and space, and joined the battle in the operation called "Yaoyaodongba" and helped everyone win.
In this round of performances, Dou Jin, a young actor from Shanghai Theater Company, has joined the cast. She has studied with Lai Shengchuan in the Shanghai Theater Company for many years, and has hundreds of performance experiences. She has continuously honed her acting skills in the process of communicating and learning with many theater seniors. Dou Jin's joining this time is also a continuation of his fate with actor Ni Ni. In 2019, "Yao Yao Dong 8" became acquainted with Ni Ni. In her thirties, Ni Ni bravely accepted this challenge and co-starred with Fan Guangyao and actors from the Shanghai Theater Company. Later, Lai Shengchuan invited Ni Ni to participate in the exclusive version of "A Dream Like a Dream" as Gu Xianglan c. The audience witnessed Ni Ni's rapid growth on the drama stage in the theater. And Dou Jin also played Gu Xianglan with Ni Ni in the exclusive version of "Like a Dream" and gave a stunning performance. This time, Dou Jin will take over the role of Ni Ni in "Yaoyaodong8", also starring Shu Tong and Anna, and will collaborate with Fan Guangyao again.
Shanghai is a special city for Lai Shengchuan. Lai Shengchuan's mother is from Ningbo. She later came to Shanghai from Ningbo and brought a Shanghainese dialect with her. Lai Shengchuan's childhood was full of Shanghai elements, which planted the seeds of his love for Shanghai. In his early years, before he set foot on this land, he had many imaginations about Shanghai. In "Secret Love in Peach Blossom Spring" created in 1986, Jiang Binliu and Yun Zhifan parted ways on the Bund in Shanghai when they were young. In addition, works such as "Like a Dream", "Treasure Island Village", " Like a Shadow ", "Hidden Treasure", "Women Are Like This" and other works have deep connections with Shanghai.
In 2015, Lai Shengchuan had a closer relationship with Shanghai. Lai Shengchuan’s exclusive theater-Shanghai Theater was launched in Shanghai. Lai Shengchuan and his team finally ended their nomadic life and had their own theater residency here, where Lai Shengchuan will also work and live. The focus shifted to Shanghai. According to Lai Shengchuan, he likes to ride a shared bicycle in Shanghai on weekdays, shuttle among the plane trees, observe people and things on the road, and experience the microcosm of life in Shanghai.
