On the evening of June 22, the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival, directed by the State Film Administration, co-sponsored by China Central Radio and Television and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, held the Golden Goblet Award Ceremony at the Shanghai Grand Theater. Awards are announced one by one.
The Golden Goblet Award for Best Film was won by the Kazakhstan film "divorce", which also won the Best Actress Award. The Argentinian film "Adults" won the Grand Jury Prize. The Georgian-Russian co-production "Snow in the Yard" won the Best Director Award. The Chinese film " the hedgehog " won the best screenwriter award, and the Chinese film "Sunshine Club" won the best actor award. The film " a man and a woman " co-produced by mainland China and Hong Kong won the Best Cinematography Award. The Iranian film "Scavengers" won the Artistic Contribution Award.
In addition, the Chinese film "Aunt Hu's Garden" won the best documentary, "The Color of You" won the best animated film, the Chinese film "Kill This Horse" won the best animated short film, and "Border Incident" won the best live action Short film.
This year’s film festival collected more than 3,700 entries and exhibitions from 105 countries and regions on five continents. After selection, 50 films from 29 countries and regions were shortlisted for the five major categories of the Golden Goblet Award. The 50 shortlisted films were of diverse nationalities and styles.
2024 is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the China-France Cultural Tourism Year. This film festival has specially planned the "French Film Week" screening event, selecting 38 outstanding French films that participated in international film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, and Locarno. The film will be screened for 156 times, using film as a medium to bring the civilizational ties between China and France closer together.
Adhering to the festival orientation of "based on Asia, paying attention to the Chinese language, and supporting new talents", the Shanghai International Film Festival has formed a "6+1" ladder-shaped new talent cultivation system that continuously opens up organic connections - mini film unit, Jinjue short film, venture capital Training camp, film project venture capital, Golden Goblet Asia New Talent Unit, Golden Goblet Awards and siff young×Shanghai Young Filmmaker Support Program. The Asian newcomer unit, which is an important part of the "6+1" system and an integral part of the Golden Goblet Award competition structure, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. From obscurity, through intensive efforts, the Asia-News Unit has continuously discovered new film directors from China and other Asian countries and regions, supported the new forces of Asian films, and is now a platform for the emergence of new talents and new works that cannot be ignored in the Asian film industry.
This year's film festival has a total of 1,672 screenings and 88 audience meetings. As of 8 pm on June 20, there were 495,000 moviegoers, of which 28% were moviegoers from other places. Shanghai International Film Festival gathers the three forces of culture, commerce and tourism to create a new scene of cultural tourism consumption through movie viewing, bringing new consumption vitality to this city that embraces all rivers.
The Shanghai International Film Festival will officially come to an end tomorrow (June 23). In ten days, movies and cities defined and inspired each other, opening up unlimited imagination space for the high-quality development of Chinese movies.
