q: What was the opportunity to create this story?
Shi Qianli: I grew up in the Provincial Yang Opera Troupe, and my father worked in the Provincial Song and Dance Theater. I grew up watching Yang operas and operas, and later Kunqu opera, dramas, and various stage arts. Others only watched the plays performed by the actors on the stage, but I also saw the plays performed by the actors off the stage. Therefore, I have always wanted to write stories about art practitioners themselves into novels or plays. This time I chose a relatively unpopular industry among art practitioners. The story of the musical instrument builder is also a true story from life, and such stories are still happening in real life. I would like to take this opportunity to express my special thanks to master violin maker Guo Mingkui and Professor Liu Wenrong, doctoral supervisor of instrumental music at Nanjing University of the Arts for their strong support!
q: The performance of the play created this time combines drama, puppet show, symphony and multimedia. It is a very complex coordination. What is the biggest difficulty encountered in the creation and arrangement?
Shi Qianli: This drama is a form of cross-border integration. Each industry does its own part independently and then integrates it. Because it is an innovative form, there is no previous reference to draw from, so the main creative team completely relies on the brain's spatial logical thinking to transform into image thinking to build a fusion of so many cross-border elements. The challenge is huge and the uncertainty is also strong. But again, I believe there will be more surprises.
q: During the performance, there will be an interactive part with the small audience. This is one of the charms of small theaters, but it will also increase the difficulty of the actors' performance. How was it achieved in such a short creative time?
Shi Qianli: The interactive part will not be designed too much in the premiere of this drama. The natural and silky interaction must be a work that has been performed many times and is very mature, so that it can present the best interactive effect. We This work will be performed in a small theater and performed weekly, with new interactive content added every time to make the work more and more mature.
q: What are your expectations for this creation?
Shi Qianli: I look forward to this work becoming an outstanding Chinese children's drama that we independently develop without borrowing any elements from European and American children's drama styles. Become our own literary and artistic masterpieces as Chinese people. Moreover, in the future, we hope to turn this play into a children's play for teenagers to perform and perform themselves, as a demonstration play for our affiliated youth symphony orchestra.
