Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is recovering from surgery for a broken hip after falling during a concert in Los Angeles.
NBA Hall of Famer Abdul-Jabbar underwent surgery on Sunday without complications, his business partner and spokesperson Deborah Morales told The Associated Press.
"He will be recovering for three months," she wrote via text message.
Abdul-Jabbar was attending a Friday show when he was injured. At an undisclosed venue, emergency personnel arrived and rushed the 76-year-old basketball star to Ronald Reagan Los Angeles Medical Center.
He was a key player for the Los Angeles Lakers during the "Showtime" era of the 1980s, leading them to five NBA championships. "Magic" Johnson posted a message on social media over the weekend: "Wishing my Showtime teammate Kareem Abdul-Jabbar a speedy recovery after he fell and fractured his leg! Praying for the captain!"

Abdul-Jabbar revealed in 2020 that he had prostate cancer. In 2009, he said he had been diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, a blood cancer, the previous year.
