Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications Services, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.

Investing.com The best performing stocks on the UK 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 3.88% or 2.51 points to trade at 67.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) rose 2.02% (33.50 points) to end at 1,692.50 and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals (LON:AZN) rose 1.67% (170.00 points) to 10,356.00 in late trade.
The weakest performing stock on the market was Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 5.23% (30.60 points) to close at 555.00. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) fell 3.37% or 164.00 points to end at 4,705.00. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) fell 2.54% or 14.40 points to 551.60.
928 stocks fell on the London Stock Exchange, which exceeded the number of stocks closing higher - 744. At the same time, 471 stocks did not rise or fall, which was basically the same.
Gold futures February options contract price rose 0.06% (1.25 points) to $2,036.95.
