The red crossbill is dressed in red, and its whole body is red. It is very eye-catching. The upper and lower sides of the bill intersect, so it is also known as the crooked bill and crossbill. Of course, the brightly colored male bird is the male bird. The female bird is more low-key and less ostentatious. She is dressed in green with a slightly yellow breast and abdomen. For this reason, people also call her Qingjiaozui.
The red crossbill mainly lives and breeds in the Northeast. In winter, it goes to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River to avoid the severe cold. Perhaps the first few snowfalls in the Northeast this year disrupted the birds' behavior. Some red crossbills broke into the capital and picked the fruits of pine and cypress trees for food.
There are not many brightly colored birds in Beijing. The appearance of the red crossbill adds color to the gray winter and is a surprise for all photographers.
