Film is art, but it is not only the art of the picture, but also the art in the sense of communication and appeal, and it needs to add a skill of communication. The first half of the film is busy with depicting pictures like art films, but ignores how much information the audience can accept. When I see those people sitting in rows in the countryside, seeing their numb expressions, and seeing the pictures of them burning paper, I really feel uncomfortable, depressed, obscure, and unable to enter that special field in the domain.

Although many people complain that these two films are "very long-winded" in terms of narrative, I can actually watch them from beginning to end with relish. This is because both films not only focus on the picture itself, but also use different elements in a comprehensive and diverse manner to present the theme of the film to the world in some unconventional way. "The Elephant Sitting on the Floor" did not clearly explain the relationship between the protagonists at the beginning. There is some sense of flow of consciousness. The narrative logic and character arrangement are messy at first and then clear, and the overall feeling is coherent and different. "Roadside Picnic" mixes poetry into the film's interpretation. Although it also gives people a paradoxical feeling, the poetic expression has indeed become the unique mark of the film.

Of course, the above two films also have their own problems, not perfect. But both managed to do one thing: to be remembered in bold and self-contained terms. Let people remember that it is a breakthrough at the level of communication. That is, attracting attention. In fact, the most important thing for a good movie is to be remembered and attract a kind of attention (a kind of attention is also an important award in the Cannes Film Festival , it can be seen that "attention" is very important for film art) , and then is its artistic level high or not.
