I haven't read the works of Master Shengyan in detail, and I don't like to read the names given to him by the world.
But I have read the will of Master Shengyan by chance. After taking a closer look, I was moved inexplicably, and there were only four words floating in front of my eyes- "Master of the Generation" .
1. Born in Jiangsu Province, Mainland China in 1930, with a lay surname Zhang. Behind me, no obituaries, no confession, no tombs, no towers, no monuments, no erect images, no picking up solid stones. Make sure to use simplicity as solemnity, and don’t waste extravagance. 2. If there is a letter to provide cash and royalties at home and abroad, donate it to the Gushan Buddhist Foundation and the Gushan Cultural and Educational Foundation. I did not have any private property during my lifetime, and all my belongings came from the ten sources of donations, so I belonged to the dojo, according to the Buddhist system and my will notarized by the court.
3. All the Taoist temples I founded and are responsible for are all under the line of Fagushan. In addition to economically independent operation, the assurance of Taoism, talent education, interactive care and personnel arrangements should be incorporated into a unified mechanism. Only in foreign branch temples, the principles of unification of Zen style and localization of personnel should be used as the principle of maintaining the purity of Zen, and the rooting and promotion of meditation in different cultural societies.
4. The post of the chief abbot of Dharma Drum Mountain, whether elected internally or recruited from outside the system, will also take over the Dharma system, inherit and continue Dharma Drum Mountain’s Zen tradition, and shall not be abolished. The philosophy and direction of Dharma Drum Mountain is for eternal style. The Buddha said: "I don't receive the crowd, I am among the monks." The abbot is the spiritual center of the Sangha. He supervises the monks and monks to break the monk's behavior, according to the law, according to the law, and according to the regulations, and is happy, diligent, and pure.
5. My works, except for those who have been published and published, can be included in the complete works. All manuscripts that have not been reviewed by me will not be reorganized into books by future generations in order to avoid waste.
6. Behind me, please ask Professor Lin Qixian and his wife to supplement my "chronology" until my life, as historical materials, and to help the future virtuous people to make reference. Therefore, please do not edit and print publications such as commemorative collections.

8. Among the four disciples of monks and laymen, there is no dispute about industry, finance, power, and fame, but there are four educational functions of compassion, wisdom, respect, and environmental protection. Every sage cherishes it. We have the good roots and merits of this classmate Bodhisattva's path. We have made good destiny together under the seat of the infinite Buddhas, and will still practice the Supreme Bodhi in the infinite Buddha associations, and be together in the orthodox school. China is dependent on each other.
