immigration procedures
from the mainland to Taiwan requires "two certificates and one visa", that is, Taiwan Endorsement of Pass, Entry Permit and Taiwan Pass. The full name of the Taiwan Pass is "Mainland Residents Traveling to and from Taiwan Pass", which can be processed at the Exit-Entry Administration Office of the Public Security Bureau where the household registration is located. I did it at the Haidian Branch. You can go directly on weekdays or make an appointment on this website. . The Taiwan Pass endorsement is an endorsement on the Taiwan Pass. When you apply for the Taiwan Pass, it will be accompanied by an endorsement. You can enter and exit Taiwan once with a valid endorsement. The full name of the entry permit is the “entry and exit permit for Taiwan of the Republic of China”, which is equivalent to a visa. Due to the special relationship between the two sides of the strait, this permit needs to be handled by a qualified travel agency. Travel agencies such as CYTS and Ctrip can handle it. The entry permit issued by Fish Travel can enter and exit Taiwan once with a valid entry permit. The longest stay in Taiwan is 16 days and 15 nights. The Taiwan Pass is valid for 5 years, the endorsement is valid for 6 months, and the Taiwan Pass is valid for 3 months. You need to pay attention when applying for the pass.
The Taiwan Pass takes 10 working days to complete; the Taiwan Pass and many other materials are required for the Taiwan Pass. The processing time will be extended near the popular travel time, usually about 10 to 15 days. It is recommended to start the application for the certificate at least one month in advance of the departure date. When I applied for the Taiwan Entry Permit, I caught up with the peak of the May 1st trip and it took me nearly 20 days to issue the permit.
Prepare the list of items
The following is the list of items I prepared before departure:
Taiwan Pass Entry Permit
ID Card
Bank Card (Hua Xia Bank UnionPayThe card is free of charge for the first cash withdrawal every day abroad, so I brought a Huaxia card)
credit card (credit card is more convenient for large purchases, and Agoda also requires credit card payment for hotel bookings)
mobile phone and charger
mobile power
Cycling clothing (Taiwan sun poison, light long-sleeved cycling clothing is better)
helmet
RMB
bus card
riding backpack
cold medicine
Later I found these things are also very useful, but these can be found everywhere in Taiwan 7-eleven bought:
toothbrush toothpaste
towel
sunscreen
sunburn medicine
mosquito repellent
bicycle rental
Because I don’t want to drag a heavy bicycle back and forth, I chose to rent a bicycle around the island in Giant. The roundabout bicycles provided by Giant are station wagons with lockable front shock absorbers, front and rear waterproof saddle bags, ergonomic grips, and stopwatches. The bikes are in very good condition and of high quality. On more than 1,000 kilometers of road around the island, the car had no other problems except for the computer sensor.
The cost of renting a bicycle around the island is $1200 for the first three days and $200 for each day after that. I rented it for 11 days and the total is $1200+(11-3)*$200 = $2800, which is converted into RMB 580.
To rent a round-the-island bike, you need to make an appointment in advance. You can find a round-the-island bike rental shop on Giant's website and call to make an appointment. I started calling the Giant Taipei Nanjing store, and I replied that the appointment was full, and then I called the Taipei Xinzhuang store to make an appointment.
