The simple and pure values of the older generation are thus integrated into the folk music of Suona. The story of the
movie takes place in Shui Zhuang. Master Jiao is a well-known suona craftsman from far and near, and there are many people who come here to worship. You Tianming's father once had a suona dream. He didn't have a chance to complete it, so he sent his son Tianming to Master Jiao's house to apprentice. Although Tianming did not have a good talent, Master Jiao decided to accept him. Master Jiao
is the class leader of Jiao's class. The first task he gave to his apprentice Tianming was to use a reed pole to suck out the water in the lake. This practiced vigor and was the basic skill of Suona.
Soon, Tianming had a younger brother Lanyu, so the two began to suck water from the lake together. The two young apprentices help the master and wife in farm work every day. Until one day, the master began to teach Lanyu to blow suona. Tianming saw that the younger brother who started later than himself had started to learn, but he could only suck the lake water, and his pride was too much, so he ran back home in anger. As soon as he arrived at the door, he heard his father brag about himself with his neighbors. Young Tianming thought that he had vowed to learn "A Hundred Birds as a Phoenix", so he turned back to his master. After
came back from this trip, Tianming was finally able to contact Suona, and he could also follow the master to live in the next village. As the days passed, it was time for Jiao Jiaban to "speak". The so-called "passing the sound" is to choose the heir. Only one apprentice can win this honor and learn "Hundred Birds Chaofeng". Of the two apprentices, who would Master Jiao choose?
Eventually, Tianming was able to learn "Hundred Birds Face the Phoenix" and took over the Suona team. Jiaojiaban officially changed its name to Youjiaban. But the status of Suona is no longer what it used to be. Suona is no longer as respected as before, everyone is just playing fun. With the introduction of Western musical instruments, Suona has become less loved by the villagers. In a live performance in Wushuang Town, the ancient Suona and the Western band started a real battle.
In order for Suona to be included in the intangible cultural heritage, I went to the city to find my former brother in the morning. However, the brother who worked in the provincial city had broken his throat or injured his finger and couldn't blow the suona. Depressed, Tianming stood alone in front of Master Jiao's tombstone and blew "Hundred Birds Face Phoenix", and the sound of suona cut through the sky, loud and distant.
Although the Suona song "Hundred Birds in the Phoenix" is only 6 minutes and 40 seconds, it is not only a memory elegy sung to traditional culture, but also a warm hymn to people who adhere to art, culture and ideals!
