The global box office of "Star Wars" series is as high as 8.8 billion U.S. dollars, among which "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" ranks 13th in the global box office with 1.333 billion U.S. dollars. So, the "Star Wars" series is very popular in other countries, but why can't it be in China? Personally, I have to say two things.
1. The plot is not full, the layout is too rough, and the classic characters are not deep enough.
I believe everyone is quite satisfied with the special effects of the "Star Wars" series, even the "Star Wars Story 1: A New Hope" released in 1977. Compared with the current domestic science fiction films. The special effects are good, but the plot is always too simple, as if the plot trend of each "Star Wars" is probably the same, not to mention the layout and easter eggs. All in all, if you watch "Star Wars 1", you can basically guess the general plot of "Star Wars 2", which greatly reduces the audience's expectations. In addition, the modeling of classic characters is not deep enough, and can even be described as superficial. Quite simply, what do you think of when you mention "Star Wars" year? It must be lightsaber and spaceship, but classic characters like Iron Man and Batman are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. A movie, without an impressive role, obviously cannot satisfy our Chinese audience.
2. It’s too long across the ages, loyal fans are already middle-aged, and their feelings have faded year by year.

Most of the fans of "War of the Week" in the 1990s and the beginning of this century were born in the 1980s and 75s. They have entered the "middle age" and their enthusiasm for watching movies has gradually declined. In recent years, the main consumer force in the movie market is the post-90s or even post-00s. Therefore, this is one of the important reasons why the "Star Wars" series cannot be sold in China. One example is quite obvious. "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" was released in 2016. Thanks to the emotional catalyst after a ten-year absence, the film also scored more than 800 million yuan in the box office. In the next few years, the "Star Wars" Gaiden and "The Last Jedi" were not good at the box office. This further shows that after the feelings fade, whether the film meets the audience's taste becomes particularly important.
