The high-profile live interview between Elon Musk and Donald Trump on the X platform suffered a technical glitch before it started. After more than 40 minutes of delay , the interview finally started.
The interview, which was originally scheduled to start at 8 pm local time on August 12, was postponed due to technical glitches. Many x users who tried to watch this interview tried to join the live broadcast space before the interview started, but received a "This space is not available" prompt and were unable to successfully enter the live broadcast space.
Musk said that x seems to have been hit by a large-scale DDoS network attack and we are working hard to stop it. In the worst-case scenario, we will continue the interview with Trump with only a small live audience and publish the conversation at a later date.
Just after 8:20 pm local time on August 12, Musk blamed the screen freeze on a cyber attack. Musk said the company had tested the system with 8 million concurrent listeners earlier on August 12 to prevent any technical errors and ensure that X's live broadcast capabilities could handle the event.
Many people responded to Trump's tweet saying they heard the same sound or were unable to enter.
In response to a request for comment from the media, a Trump campaign spokesman pointed to Musk's post on x accusing the potential cyberattack.
Musk said, "I apologize for the delayed launch. Our servers were hit by a massive DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack and all of our data lines were saturated."
To prepare for the interview, Musk conducted two test live broadcasts on Sunday, which attracted 2.1 million and 1.3 million views respectively.
This is reminiscent of Musk’s campaign interview with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis last year, which was delayed by nearly 30 minutes because the platform crashed because it could not accommodate nearly 500,000 listeners at the same time.
The interview was billed as a hot, news-making event designed to help the Trump campaign revitalize its base after a troubling three weeks.
It is worth mentioning that ’s interview was an impromptu interview with no script and no subject restrictions on the content.
Previously, Trump posted several posts in succession on the social media platform U.S. Capitol riot banned officially returns x.
