In a small village teaching site in Wushan County, Chongqing, there is a young teacher born in 1995. He uses music to open a new window for the children in the mountains...
As soon as he came out of the Yangtze River Wushan County is surrounded by steep mountains and vast mountains. After getting off the provincial road, turning onto the county road, and passing through a winding and narrow wall-mounted road, we arrived at the lithography teaching site of Tianjia Primary School in Sanxi Township. The altitude here is nearly 1,200 meters, which is more than 900 meters higher than the county seat; not far away is the junction of Chongqing and Hubei. Six teachers stick to this, allowing 21 children to go to school close to their homes.
"Isn't the scenery just now shocking?" Zhuang Jiyu, the person in charge of the teaching point and born in 1997 (pictured, photographed by our reporter Jiang Feng), said to the group with a smile. He is almost 1.8 meters tall and has a slim build. He is dressed casually and wears a pair of fashionable semi-black-rimmed glasses. He still looks like a student.
In the summer of 2021, Zhuang Jiyu, a directional normal school student, graduated from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences with a major in primary school education and was assigned to work in Wushan County, the "gateway to northeastern Chongqing", and has been associated with Wushan ever since. "The 30 students in the same batch all went to teach in rural schools where teacher resources are most urgently needed, and the service period is six years." Zhuang Jiyu said.
It was Zhuang Jiyu's active choice to step onto the three-foot podium: "My aunt is the eldest of the three siblings from my father's generation and is a primary school teacher in the town. It was also my aunt's advice to apply for the local orientation normal school student." When
came here, Zhuang Jiyu Jiyu and his young companions continue to open up the children's horizons and bring new knowledge in grassroots teaching.
accidentally touched the strings, and student Zhang Yaqi turned around and ran away in fright - this scene deeply touched Zhuang Jiyu.
When he first arrived in Shiyin Village, in addition to his suitcase, Zhuang Jiyu also carried a guitar. Zhuang Jiyu found that most students in the mountains were shy and introverted. "Why not use music to open a different window for children?"
In 2022, he started a guitar club class. "Some children have a good sense of music. For example, some chord changes usually take adults more than a month to learn, but Zhang Yaqi can master it after practicing for half a month!" Now, this little girl can already carry Teacher Zhuang's "huge" on her back. I played the guitar and sang a complete song by myself.
Zhuang Jiyu’s guitar club class was supported by the vice principal of Wushan Middle School who paid the bill. At the beginning of 2023, when Fu Dan visited Shiyin Village, she saw Zhuang Jiyu's attempts. She made a ppt of what she saw and introduced it to high school students in Wushan Middle School, and raised more musical instruments for the children at the Shiyin teaching site.
Zhuang Jiyu will never forget that when he drove the instrument back, "the teachers and the children ran outside the school gate early to wait. It was as lively as the Chinese New Year!"
From then on, musical instrument playing and singing classes were started for all students. In June last year, at the 2023 graduation ceremony of Wushan Middle School, children from the Shiyin Teaching Point used a video to give everyone a music performance and blessings. "The on-site effect is very good." Fu Dan said that she wants to continue to provide as much help as possible to young teachers and children.
Wang Zuxian, a fourth-grade student who used to be introverted, was trained to be a bassist in the band. Now he saw reporters and his party and took the initiative to say hello; Wang Chao, a sixth-grade student, who previously taught him how to play the drums but struggled to learn, is now able to cooperate Performing, and taking the initiative to be the host of every party... "Learning music and appearing on the stage can not only cultivate skills, but more importantly, they can provide positive power." Zhuang Jiyu said.
Now, Zhuang Jiyu, who has become the person in charge of the teaching site, is getting busier and busier. He joked: "My hair has grown gray." Audiences who "come here because of their reputation".That day, the children graced the stage and sang very loudly...
