Webmaster's Home (chinaz.com) May 16th News: Recently, 9to5mac cited feedback from Reddit forum users that Apple's latest iOS 17.5 update seems to have triggered a puzzling "ghost photo" phenomenon. After upgrading to this new version, many users were surprised to find that photos they had completely deleted years ago had mysteriously reappeared in their Photos app.
It is worth noting that the traditional "Recently Deleted" function of photo applications usually retains a 30-day recovery period for deleted photos, but this time the situation is obviously different. Many users reported that the photos in question had been deleted for months or even years.
As of now, Apple has not officially responded to this issue. Some reddit users speculated that iOS 17.5 may have made changes to the indexing mechanism of the photo application, causing the system to experience an exception when re-indexing the photo library, thus triggering this "ghost photo" phenomenon.
However, this is just speculation by users, and the real reason still needs to wait for further official explanation from Apple.
