was born in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province in 1935. In 1949, he was admitted to the Shanghai Institute of Humanities and Art to study acting. In 1956, he was transferred from Shanghai People's Art Theater to the Central Experimental Theater. He has created nearly a hundred characters in dramas and film and television dramas. His main works include: dramas "One Servant, Two Masters", "Peach Blossom Fan", "Fen River", movies "Legend of Tianyun Mountain", "Legend of the Eight Immortals", TV series "Red Rock", "Beijing Police Squad", "The Last 99 Days", etc.
In 1981, he played the leading actor Luo Qun in "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain" directed by the great director Xie Jin. The film caused a huge response after its release and won many awards including the 1st Golden Rooster Award and the 4th Hundred Flowers Award for Best Feature Film.
In 1991, Shi Weijian became the director of the China Youth Art Theater. During his tenure as director, Shi Weijian solved the housing problems of dozens of people and built the Qingyi Building in the Capital Oriental Plaza.
