Xinhua News Agency, Changsha, March 29 (Reporters Mingxing, Yao Yu) The reporter learned from the forestry department of Nanyue District, Hengyang City, Hunan Province that staff of Nanyue Arboretum were recently conducting field surveys for the "Collection and Cultivation of Model Plants in Nanyue Hengshan Mountain" project At that time, through research and analysis of morphological characteristics, the golden waist of the hair stem that had been hidden for 65 years in Nanyue Hengshan was rediscovered.

“This time we discovered this species at the edge of a valley and gully below Zhurong Peak. It was in the flowering season, and clusters of small grasses with white flowers were scattered among the grass in the gully. This made me wonder. I thought of the golden waist that I had been searching for for many years, and after careful checking, I determined that it was a major discovery." Xia Jianglin, senior engineer of Nanyue Arboretum, the discoverer of the golden waist, said, "There are about 30 plants in this group, and the number is very rare." Zhongnan Forestry Professor Yu Xunlin from the University of Science and Technology also confirmed the discovery.
Philadelphia trichosanthes is a plant of the genus Saxifrageceae. It has white calyxes and grows in shady and wetlands under the forest. According to data, the Golden Girdle was first discovered in 1959 in Hengshan Mountain, Nanyue.

Li Minghong, senior forestry engineer of the Nanyue Hengshan National Nature Reserve Administration, said that Nanyue Hengshan has a subtropical humid climate, with superior natural conditions such as light, heat and water, and good protection measures, making it a vibrant place. "Green Home". At present, there are five endemic plant species in Nanyue Hengshan: Acacia tomentosa, Narrow-flowered willow-leaf bamboo shoots, Golden-rumped golden waist, Nanyue hoof fern and Nanyue old crow petal. They are called "five golden flowers" by the locals. However, it has been difficult to find traces of the Golden Girdle in the wild.
Xia Jianglin said: “According to the Flora of China, the type specimen of this species was collected from Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue. However, there were no specific records of the person who collected the species and the time of collection. There was only an identification date in 1959. It was once Some foreign botanists contacted us and jointly searched for this species, but to no avail."
In recent years, Nanyue Hengshan has built a "sky-ground" three-dimensional patrol monitoring system, carried out extensive publicity and education, and stepped up efforts to prevent poaching and poaching of wild animals. Measures such as cracking down on plant violations and continuing to strengthen the protection of wild animals and plants have led to the reappearance of some species that had disappeared for many years, and the level of biodiversity has steadily increased.
“In the next stage, we will carry out ex-situ conservation measures for this species and study its growth habits to expand its population.” said Kuang Baogen, deputy director of Nanyue Arboretum.
