On March 27, the original soundtrack album of the musical "Nan Kong" was officially launched on major online platforms, including a total of 27 selected tracks such as "Big Nandu" and "The Gift in the Heart".
The new Chinese style musical "Nan Kong" is a work that examines and writes the millennium sentiments and aspirations of Confucianism from a contemporary perspective. The play is based on the classic historical event of "Kong Zhu surrendered his title". It tells the story of the Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty who ordered the Southern clan of the Kong family, who had settled in Quzhou for a hundred years, to return to Qufu to worship. Kong Zhu, the 53rd eldest grandson of Confucius, the Holy Duke Yan, fought for the world in his heart. The story of the guardian of the Hejia Temple, who gave up the title of "Yanshenggong" to his clan brother in Qufu, and then returned to Quzhou to transform officials into people and spread the sage.
The play was created by a domestic first-class creative team composed of chief director Zhong Hao, screenwriter Liu Chun, composer Lu Liang, visual director Ren Dongsheng, styling director A Kuan, and dance director Tian Tian. Throughout the musical by composer Lu Liang, those classical instruments are constantly intertwined - the new Chinese style music color and the strong Mongolian style form a unique musical vocabulary. Modern melody and ancient rhyme melody are blended and grafted, and the graceful and affectionate new national style is everywhere.
The music creation of the play always runs through a very distinct theme of "rituals" - the linked thematic melodies in the play are pleasant and beautiful, with both "new national style" and unique style, and more importantly, in line with The auditory aesthetics of the broad audience are rich in layering and history, and many classic arias are widely circulated. Throughout the musical, classical musical instruments are constantly intertwined and blended - the new national style music color and the strong Mongolian style form a unique musical vocabulary. Modern melody and ancient rhyme melody are blended and grafted. In the strong emotional tension, the elegance and profoundness of ancient style are everywhere.
The musical "Nan Kong" is jointly produced by the Propaganda Department of Quzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Zhejiang Performing Arts Group (Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater Co., Ltd.). As a 2024 large-scale stage drama and work creation funding project from the National Arts Fund, a repertoire for the Second National Outstanding Musical Show, a project funded by the Zhejiang Culture and Art Development Fund, and a repertoire for the 9th Beijing Confucius Temple and Imperial College Chinese Culture Festival, the play has been performed in Hangzhou, Nearly 30 performances were performed in Quzhou, Beijing, Xiamen and other places, attracting more than 30,000 spectators. It is reported that the play will start its 2024 national tour on April 5.
