"Frogman" mainly focuses on the amphibious frogman unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, known as the "undersea dragon and land hunter". The 20 main creative actors used exquisite dance movements to show a series of combat scenes such as the frogmen's surface reconnaissance, diving when encountering obstacles, hitting the target, and completing the mission, and restored the bravery and mystery of the military's "magic soldiers" on the stage.
On November 8 last year, after receiving the invitation from China Central Radio and Television, the School of Music and Dance of South Central University for Nationalities worked together to select 20 students, led by professional teacher Chen Xiaopeng. "Diving goggles are an important prop when we perform. However, after wearing the goggles, our vision is limited. We can only see directly in front of us and cannot see our companions on the left and right. Therefore, we must exercise muscle memory during rehearsals. "On November 27 last year, when we got off the high-speed train, we went straight to the recording site, walked on stage, combined the lights, and ended the rehearsal at 2 a.m. Then on the 28th, we started putting on makeup and getting ready at 10 a.m., and started recording at 12 noon. At the director's suggestion, a screen was added in the front area of the stage to simulate the underwater environment and create a naked-eye 3D effect," said Chen Xiaopeng.
"This is a rare stage experience. Not only have we gained professional progress, but our abilities in all aspects have also been significantly improved." Hu Jing said. The live stage was different from the usual training venues and was particularly slippery. The students were not used to it at first, fearing that they would slip, make mistakes, and hold the team back. Everyone's legs were tight and stiff. After rehearsing over and over again, the actors gradually adapted to the stage and entered the state on the day of recording. They devoted all their attention to the dance movements themselves, putting aside all distracting thoughts, just to have the best stage presentation. .
According to reports, the dance work "Frogman" by South Central University for Nationalities is a project funded by the National Arts Fund in 2019 and was shortlisted for the final selection of contemporary dance in the 12th Chinese Dance "Lotus Award".
