According to Taiwan's "China Times News Network", the military website "Global Firepower" recently announced the 2024 military strength rankings. Among them, Taiwan ranks among the best in "number of available reserve forces" and ranks third in the world. Some netizens on the island commented that it was "laughing to death" and "when there is a real war, the number of deserters will definitely be among the highest."
The "Global Firepower" website evaluates the "Firepower Index" of countries/regions based on more than 60 criteria, including the number of military units, finances, logistical capabilities and geographical location. The report pointed out that as of January this year, there were approximately 2.31 million reserve troops in Taiwan, equivalent to 9.8% of the entire population, ranking third in the global ranking of "available reserve troops"; the total military manpower was approximately 2.58 million, accounting for 10.9% of the entire population.
Regarding this ranking, some netizens on the island commented, "When there is a real war, the number of deserters will definitely be among the best."
Some netizens said, "It's ridiculous," "an armchair evaluation," and "those who have been discharged from the army for 4 months...maybe they can't even hold a gun."
Some netizens pointedly pointed at the DPP, "The DPP always pushes other people's children to be cannon fodder. Being a soldier in Taiwan is the most unworthy thing."
