After trial, it was found that from 2015 to 2018, the defendant Chen Xiaodong abused his power while serving as deputy secretary of the Rugao Municipal Party Committee, mayor, and municipal party committee secretary, causing a loss of more than 5.6 billion yuan in state-owned assets. From 2011 to 2021, the defendant Chen Xiaodong took advantage of his position as deputy secretary of the Rugao Municipal Party Committee, mayor, municipal party committee secretary, and deputy mayor of Nantong City to assist others in matters such as project land approval, land transfer fee reduction, and engineering project contracting. Provided help on the Internet and received property gifts equivalent to more than RMB 12.74 million and 1.5 million preferred shares of overseas affiliated companies from others. On March 1, 2021, the defendant Chen Xiaodong arranged for relatives to deposit 1.2 million yuan in bribes into a bank account for the purchase of real estate in Shanghai.
Changzhou Intermediate People's Court held that the defendant Chen Xiaodong's behavior constituted the crimes of abuse of power, bribery and money laundering. In view of the fact that Chen Xiaodong can truthfully confess the criminal facts of bribery and abuse of power after arriving at the case, take the initiative to explain the criminal facts of money laundering that are not yet known to the case handling agency, plead guilty and accept punishment, and actively return the stolen goods, he may be given a lighter or reduced punishment.
