On November 30, 2022, the Jiangxi High Court issued a second-instance verdict on the appeal of Lao Rongzhi suspected of intentional homicide, robbery, and kidnapping: the appeal was rejected and the original verdict was upheld.
On January 7, 2023, the Jiangxi Higher People's Court announced that Lao Rongzhi's case was selected as the court's top ten cases of the year and disclosed the progress of the case. The case is being submitted to the Supreme People's Court for approval.
