Universal Studios Japan’s "Super Mario World" theme park will open in 2020 to welcome the Tokyo Olympics. According to the photos posted online, the construction of the park went smoothly.
Judging from the photos, this 3D Mario World "Hill Tower" will be the tallest building in the theme park, which can overlook the entire theme park. According to previous information, at least part of this "hill tower" belongs to the "Yoshi's Adventure" amusement project. This project includes two parts, indoor and outdoor, and will surround the top of the park. More than 40 automatic performance robots will be arranged along the way. .
In 2015, Nintendo and Universal Studios announced a cooperation agreement to build an "immersive" theme park, and a few years later announced the park location: Osaka, Japan.
According to Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO of Universal Studios/Resorts, there will be two tours on the first day of the park’s opening, one is Yoshi’s Adventures, and the other is the theme of "Super Mario Racing", but the details are not public.
According to the previously leaked theme park concept design drawings, visitors in the theme park can also use special magnetic wristbands to interact with tours and games in the park. Players can obtain scores through interaction, and these scores can be entered back into the guest's game console. Therefore, the Nintendo Switch host may launch a dedicated theme park application to support this feature.
In addition to Japan, Nintendo plans to open similar theme parks in Universal Studios Orlando, Hollywood and Singapore, but the start and completion dates are unknown.
The Super Mario World in Osaka, Japan will open in spring 2020, and another Donkey Kong theme park will open in 2021.
