Wang Wenjiao is known as the "pioneer" of badminton in New China. His ancestral home is Nan'an, Fujian, and he was born in Indonesia in 1933. He was once a well-known badminton star in Indonesia. In 1954, he resolutely returned to China together with Chen Fushou and other young overseas Chinese in spite of Indonesia's obstruction. After returning to China, Wang Wenjiao won the national badminton competition men's singles and doubles championships many times. retired, Wang Wenjiao successively coached the Fujian Badminton Team and the National Badminton Team, and cultivated a large number of talents such as Yang Yang, Zhao Jianhua, Li Yongbo, Tian Bingyi. During his tenure as head coach, the Chinese badminton team won Thomas Cup champions in 1982, 1986, 1988, 1990, Uber Cup champions in 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992 Uber Cup champions, and won 56 world individual events champion. Wang Wenjiao also served as the vice chairman of the Asian Badminton Federation, the director and executive member of the International Badminton Federation, and a member of the fifth and sixth CPPCC National Committee.
