Chips are getting finer and finer, and many people think that Moore's Law and will expire soon. However, chip manufacturers are still exploring the limits of the physical world, from 3nm process to 2nm process, from 2nm process to 1.4nm process, and then from 1.4nm process to 1nm process, which is regarded as the physical limit of Moore's Law.

News on October 31, according to Taiwan's "Business Times" report, following Zhuke's 2nm factory, TSMC will start a pilot plan. It is expected that the latest 2nm (1nm) process will be settled under the jurisdiction of Hsinchu Science Park Taoyuan Longtan Park.
In this regard, Wang Yongzhuang, director of the Zhuke Administration Bureau, responded that it is inconvenient to disclose the layout of individual manufacturers before the manufacturer announces, but simply taking Longtan Park as an example, the land for the first phase of the business area is almost full, and the main plan for the second phase To open up space for parks and green spaces. If new factories want to enter or set up factories in the future, the third phase of base evaluation and planning must be carried out. According to this situation, TSMC has already planned for 1nm, and the official mass production of the 1nm process may take until 2027.
To mass produce the 1nm process, a more advanced next-generation EUV lithography machine has become the top priority. It is reported that ASML's next-generation EUV lithography test model will be shipped as soon as next year, and will be officially mass-produced after 2025, which is basically in the rhythm of TSMC. However, the price of this EUV lithography machine will reach more than 400 million US dollars.
