A cult run by former Nazis in Chile! This sounds like a weird fictional work, but the scenes depicted in the historical drama are very real (except for the fictional love part in the movie). In September 1973, a military coup supported by the United States seized control of the Chilean government from the democratically elected socialist President Salvador Allende and handed the power to the commander-in-chief of the army Augusto Pinochet.

Under his 17-year rule, dissidents were persecuted, arrested, kidnapped, dismissed, tortured, and murdered. The Pinochet administration used remote "colonies" as places to torture and murder some of the regime's political opponents. The public image of the colony is a charity and educational organization. This is actually a kind of religious worship. Former Nazi military doctor Paul Schaefer imposed a strict interpretation of the Bible on all his followers, many of whom immigrated with him from Germany. He forced them to live in gender-segregated dormitories, and their parents and children were separated because Shafer sexually harassed them.

Daniel Brewer plays Daniel, a political activist from Germany who has lived in Chile for several months and worked with a group of young people who support President Allende. Daniel's girlfriend Lena (Emma Watson) is a flight attendant. She spends a week in San Diego staying with Daniel.

When a military coup suddenly drove Allende from power, the new government began to round up political dissidents, including Daniel and Lena who happened to be beside him when he was arrested. On a football field, a man in a black hood recognized Allende's supporters, including Daniel, who was taken away by a van. Lena was able to track the mark on the car and found that it was a mysterious and remote "colonial" compound located about a hundred kilometers south of San Diego. She went there and asked to join.

In her attempt to save her lost love, Lena sacrificed her freedom and put her life in danger. A harsh old woman named Gisela (Lizida Carri) takes her to meet the leader of the cult, German expatriate and non-cleric Paul Schafer (Michael Enquist). "Once you join us, you must stay," Shafer explained. Lena agreed, even though she noticed his fanaticism for Christianity and some creepy nature that he was born with.

Gisela gave Lena the small bag she had brought with her, gave her a few things, including a set of linen, and gave her a bed in the female dormitory. Most of the women are not interested in chatting with newcomers, but Lena became friends with another young woman named Dolo, and later with another named Ussel Vicki Krips) Women became friends. When Lena joined the women's daily work, in the fields and other food preparation activities, she learned everything about the camp and kept an eye on Daniel.

In this colony’s underground torture chamber, Daniel withstood the physical abuse of the Chilean secret police, but his condition was worse. Except for the physical injury, he speaks vaguely and now speaks and acts like a child. In a meeting of men, Lena finally saw Daniel. She secretly glanced through the window of the colony meeting room, obviously concerned about his mental state.

Soon after, in a rare meeting with men and women of the cult, Lena ventured closer to Daniel, hoping that the two of them could come up with a plan to escape the cult, which no one had done before. However, there are more at stake besides "merely" concerning the fate of two young lovers. In addition to Shafer's terrible ways of using and abusing his followers, he also engaged in other dirty deeds, which further reduced the possibility that Daniel and Lena had to leave forever.

"The Colony of Dignity" tells a little-known historyAnd adapted it into an interesting story about romance and danger. The unusual background of this film contributes to its originality, just like telling the story of a woman who came to save a man. The plot is compact, the plot is tight, and the quality is very high.
