On the 28th, Liang Weixiong, director of Hong Kong Fire Services Department and , said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China Central Radio and Television Station in Hong Kong that he fully supports the relevant legislation on safeguarding national security and believes that legislation can effectively combat violence and terrorism that seriously endanger national security. National security and ensuring that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region maintains long-term prosperity, stability and long-term stability under the "one country, two systems". As a member of the Hong Kong Disciplinary Force , the Hong Kong Fire Services Department will fully support the Security Bureau to lead the disciplined forces to perform their due duties in an effort to safeguard the national and Hong Kong security.

Leung Wei-hsiung pointed out that the current situation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is severe, from one of the safest cities in the world to a city shrouded in the shadow of "black storms." The serious illegal incidents of the Hong Kong chaos are carried out in a planned and organized manner. It can be seen that there are forces and intentions to harm the country behind them. Hong Kong is an inseparable part of the country. Safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests is a constitutional requirement for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and it is also related to the vital interests of all Hong Kong citizens. It is necessary and urgent to legislate to plug Hong Kong’s loopholes in national security.

Liang Weixiong said that all the staff of the Fire Department will never relax, they will work together, stick to their posts, continue to do a good job in fire fighting, rescue and ambulance services, and protect citizens' lives and property. Regarding the illegal and violent actions launched by rioters in recent days, the Fire Services Department has stepped up inspections of places where dangerous chemical materials are sold and stored to prevent rioters from buying petrol bombs or other weapons.
