Beijing Film Academy, or Nortel (BFA) for short, is China’s only, Asia’s largest and world-renowned film professional academy. It is in charge of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Ministry of Education Key support for the construction of public art schools. Beiying was the Performing Arts Institute of the Central Film Bureau founded in 1950. In 1951, it was renamed the Film School of the Film Bureau of the Central Ministry of Culture. In 1953, it was renamed the Beijing Film School. In 1956, it was finally renamed the Beijing Film Academy. Over the past 60 years since the establishment of the school, the Beijing Film Academy has cultivated more than 20,000 film workers for the new Chinese film industry, and is known as the "cradle of Chinese film talents."

Department settings
The school’s existing literature department, director department, photography department, film department, film and television technology department, acting school, sound school, fine arts school, animation school, management school, photography school, digital media school, 15 departments including the School of Audiovisual Media, School of International Exchange, Higher Vocational College and School of Continuing Education, as well as the graduate school and basic department, cover every industry of film creation and all the links of film creation. It is the only independent feature film Institutions for the creation of feature films and animated feature films.
Youth Film Studio is not only the organization and guidance unit of students' film creation practice, but also the production unit of teachers' artistic innovation practice, producing a large number of excellent films and student graduation works.

Campus History
The predecessor of the Beijing Film Academy was the Performing Arts Institute of the Central Film Bureau founded in 1950.
