Taiwan's "government and opposition" discuss the resumption of one-year compulsory military service, Taiwan's military: not yet finalized, let's see the arrangement

According to Taiwan media reports on March 31, as Taiwan’s defense agencies are discussing the resumption of one-year compulsory service, Qiu Guozheng, head of Taiwan’s military, said at a public opinion agency in the morning that the case has not yet been settled. He has no definite answer now, but he will follow the schedule conduct. Between the next 4 months and 1 year, there will not be a situation of "4 months early and 1 year late", and it will not be cut by time so outrageously. He wants to apologize to the students and young people who care about military service.

The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of Taiwan’s public opinion organization deliberated on the “Bill of Preferential Treatment for Reserve Soldiers” in the morning. There were a total of 9 proposed versions from the “government and opposition parties”, and Qiu Guozheng attended for consultation. Qiu Guozheng will go to Cai's office today to attend military talks.

Regarding the resumption of one-year compulsory service, Qiu Guozheng said in an interview before the meeting that the whole case has not yet been concluded. The Taiwan military believes that the voices of the outside world have a basis for arguments.

Regarding the one-year compulsory service, the outside world is worried that it will affect the combat effectiveness of volunteer service. Qiu Guozheng said that this case is for military training service. If we want to compare, the experience is naturally not as good as volunteer service, but it does not mean that there is no combat effectiveness.

As for the fact that there are people’s petitions for voters to enroll in the army early, Qiu Guozheng said that he understands these thoughts, and he wants to apologize, it was not intentional. In 2013, the service period was changed from 1 year to 4 months. The time between the two systems is not cut. He asked "everyone to rest assured" on this point.

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council spokeswoman Zhu Fenglian stated in response to the inquiry that the DPP authorities have colluded with external forces, incited "anti-China and hatred for China" populism, raised cross-strait confrontation and confrontation, and resorted to "independence" provocations by any means, in an attempt to change the fact that both sides of the strait belong to one China The facts seriously undermine the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, seriously threaten the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, and seriously damage the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation.

Zhu Fenglian said that being coerced into being the cannon fodder for the DPP authorities to seek "independence" and doing things that make family and enemies happy runs counter to the common aspiration of Taiwan compatriots for peace, development, and a better life. I advise the DPP authorities not to turn back the wheel of history. As long as they return to the political foundation of the " 1992 Consensus " and stop provoking "independence", cross-strait relations can improve and develop.
