It is understood that TSMC's 1nm process factory is planned to be built in the Longtan Science Park operated by the Hsinchu Science Park, near Taoyuan City. TSMC currently has two packaging and testing factories in Longtan Science Park, which is an ideal place for them to build a 1nm process factory.
Like TSMC’s currently operating fabs, the 1nm process technology factory will bring a large number of high-paying jobs after completion. It is expected that there will be thousands of jobs, but the investment in building the factory will also be quite high.
For TSMC’s 1nm process technology, foreign media is expected to mass-produce it at a certain point in 2027-2028, that is, 2-3 years after the mass production of 2nm process technology, it will start to use this process technology as a relevant Customer foundry wafer .
However, TSMC’s 1nm process technology is planned to be built in Longtan Science Park, and they have not officially announced the relevant plan.
