Beijing time on August 29th, NBA reporter Ohm Youngmisuk talked about the behind-the-scenes details of Lakers signing Dwight Howard when he was a guest on a local radio show in Los Angeles today.
"I was told he had a very good workout and was impressive. Of course, it was a low-risk signing, but Dwight had to prove his physical and mental fitness in the workout. Those present were impressed with his jumping ability. Deep, he looks athletic. I heard a lot of people were there to watch workouts, including JaVale McGee , Anthony Davis and Rich Paul. His performance moved so many people , so much so that they think Dwight will not only compete for the starting spot, he will likely be the Lakers' starting center."
"I believe Dwight was told that you have a chance to compete for the starting spot, but your role is from starting to coming off the bench. There's a possibility between not playing at all, he has to be mentally prepared, and he accepts that."
"I was told Mallis-Speights was out of shape, but I heard he was trying Shooting in practice was good, and some inside the Lakers felt that Maris Speights could do what DeMarcus Cousins was supposed to do for the team, especially as a player. A spacer inside. Marlis Speights hasn't played in the league before, but the Lakers feel he can get back in shape, and if they need a spacer, he's a man to consider object."
