Jiupai News previously reported that in December 1992, His 9-year-old brother Li Huanping was taken away from school by his family's helper Yi Mouqing. Two months later, Li Huanping's body was found in a sugar cane forest less than one kilometer away from the school. After

committed the crime, Yi Mouqing absconded for many years. In 2012, Li Haiyu learned about Yi Mouqing's whereabouts from his coworkers and began to search for him. She went to Yi Mouqing's hometown, but was told that there was no such person. In 2016, Li Haiyu lied that he had worked under Yi Mouqing to gain his trust. During this period, Li Haiyu confirmed that Yi Mouqing's real name was Yi Mouhua.

According to the clues provided by Li Haiyu, on May 22, 2020, the police successfully captured Yi Mouhua, who had been absconding for 28 years. But a year later, the Zhanjiang City Procuratorate issued a "Decision to Not Prosecute" and a "Statement of Reasons for Not Prosecuting".

At that time, the procuratorate believed that the whereabouts of the victim Li Huanping's bones were unknown, and the existing evidence could not confirm that Li Huanping was dead. In addition, when Li Huanping's body was discovered in 1993, the investigation records, photos, autopsy identification, and knives extracted from the scene were all lost. There was only verbal evidence of the cause of death of the body, without any documentary evidence. Yi Mouhua only had his own confession for killing Li Huanping, and there was no other evidence to confirm it. Subsequently, Yi Mouhua was released.

Li Haiyu did not give up and continued to appeal. In November 2022, the procuratorate revoked the previous "Decision not to prosecute" and Yi Mouhua was arrested again.

On July 5, 2024, the Zhanjiang City Procuratorate finally issued an indictment. The indictment shows that after legal review, it was found that on the morning of December 22, 1992, Yi Mouhua unsuccessfully asked Li Huanping's father for wages, and the two sides had a quarrel. In the afternoon of that day, Yi Mouhua took Li Huanping away from school, tricked him into a sugar cane field, and stabbed him to death with a knife.

Li Haiyu recalled that during the trial, Yi Mouhua did not say a word of apology, "I want him to be sentenced to death. I only have one. Brother, my hands were shaking in court. When I heard them saying that they stabbed my brother several times, my head hurt and I couldn’t stand it.”

Lawyer Wang Wenguang said that Yi Mouhua had an arrogant attitude in court and retracted his confession in court. , "He said that when he was helping his younger brother (Li Huanping) cross the ditch, he accidentally slipped on the knife. He was young and scared at the time and did not dare to surrender."
