A press conference on October 28 revealed that Magic Week will be held once every two years from this year to once every year, maintaining professionalism and paying more attention to the public. Magic Week has settled in Pudong for the first time, concentrating performances, lectures, exhibitions, etc. at the Pudong New Area Cultural and Art Guidance Center. Nearly a hundred performances and activities make Magic Week the largest in scale and with the largest number of performances since its inception.
This year's Magic Week focuses on "close-up magic" and covers five major sections: performance, competition, academic, charity, prop exhibition and magic market. The East Theater and Experimental Theater of the Cultural and Art Guidance Center of Pudong New Area, Shanghai will stage ten wonderful performances on three stages. The two major heavyweight competitions "International Close-up Masters Invitational Competition" and "International Close-up Magic Rookie Competition" will start a fierce collision of skills. The judging panel of the competition includes Chairman of the Jury Bian Faji, Vice Chairman of the Jury Andre Baioni, Dominique Donte, Yu Yigang, Peter Ding, Liu Qian, Dai Binchun, etc.
2 years ago, 24-year-old Liu Qian emerged at the Shanghai International Magic Week and won the silver medal in the rookie competition. Last year, Liu Qian returned to Shanghai International Magic Week as a judge, and this year he was invited to serve as a judge again. The "International Close-up Magic Rookie Competition" attracts outstanding players from home and abroad to participate. The youngest magician is only 12 years old.In addition, the seven magic lecture series provides valuable learning and exchange opportunities for magic enthusiasts and practitioners. During the four-day professional props exhibition, 14 exhibitors from China, Japan, and South Korea displayed the most cutting-edge magic props and technologies. The newly created Magic Market will last for five days and integrates magic stalls, magic transfer stations, and intangible cultural heritage. Chinese and foreign magic masters participated in "Art Sky", Magic Market Roadshow, Pudong New Area Roadshow and other people-benefiting performances at Huangpu City Lawn Music Square, Putuo Children's Library, Fengxian Sea Flower Youth Activity Center, Yangpu New Jiangwan Cultural and Art Center and Nanxun Ancient Town Theater and others brought 40 "magic surprises".
