Another Marvel superhero IP will bid farewell to the audience on the big screen.

On September 9, "@ Sony Pictures" announced on Weibo that "Venom: The Last Dance" (i.e. " Venom 3") will be released in mainland China on October 23. The film's release time in the United States is 10 January 25th.

"Venom: The Last Dance" tells the story of Venom and Eddie (played by Tom Hardy) ushering in the darkest moment. On one side, there is a fierce pursuit by a mysterious human organization, and on the other side, an army of alien symbiotes invades the earth. They work together to unlock new forms of sea, land and air combat. Faced with a frenzied pursuit from both sides, the desperate pair will be forced to make devastating decisions, marking the beginning of their final dance.

Venom is Marvel's famous "anti-hero" image and has appeared in film and television dramas many times. The Venom trilogy adapted by Sony Pictures began in 2018. "Venom: Deadly Guardian" was released in mainland China on November 9 of that year, earning a box office of 1.87 billion yuan and a Douban score of 7.2. However, the sequel "Venom 2" released in the United States in 2021 suffered from word-of-mouth failure. Douban scored 5 points and was not released in mainland China.

Since Venom's film and television IP is owned by Sony Pictures, it has not been associated with the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" (MCU) for many years. At most, it only has some linkages in easter eggs. This situation may change in the future. However, at present, the most likely way for Marvel and Disney is to restart the Venom IP. Considering the global film market's neglect of superhero-themed movies, it will take some time to see Venom on the big screen next time.
