Giant panda "Dai Li", male, was rescued in the wild in Baoxing County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province on February 26, 2001. It is estimated that he was born in 1999. During the rescue, "Dai Li" suffered severe trauma to his left hind limb and was infected and suppurated. He was sent to Sichuan Agricultural University for consultation and his left hind limb was removed. After recovery, he lived at the Ya'an Base of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center and was later transferred to the Dujiangyan Base. His physical condition has remained good.
Since the giant panda "Dai Li" entered old age, his physical health has gradually declined. Starting from July 13, 2024, "Dai Li" lost appetite, and his intake of bamboo and concentrated feed became worse and worse, and finally he almost stopped eating. The veterinarian conducted a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment on "Dai Li", and the breeders also supplemented his nutrition by making liquid concentrate feed (paste). Under the careful care of the breeders and veterinarians, "Dai Li" began to eat a small amount of food. On August 9, "Dai Li"'s appetite and activity deteriorated again. Veterinarians and breeders also actively provided diagnosis, treatment and care for "Dai Li". Unfortunately, "Dai Li" still did not survive this test and died on August 12. The sun will leave us forever. Through clinical manifestations and autopsy, initially determined that the cause of death was old age accompanied by heart disease and multiple organ failure.
html On the afternoon of August 26, Fei Xiang posted: The giant panda "Dai Li" (also known as "Xiang Xiang") I have adopted for many years has gone to heaven.
