In 1997, Guo Gangtang’s two-and-a-half-year-old son Guo Xinzhen was abducted by human traffickers. For the next 24 years, Guo Gangtang traveled across most of China in search of his son. In the meantime, the movie "Lost Orphan" was released in 2015, and the story of the movie is based on the real case of Guo Gangtang's search for his son. In 2021, during the "Reunion Operation" launched by the Ministry of Public Security, Guo Gangtang's son Guo Xinzhen, who had been abducted for 24 years, was finally found, and the criminal suspects Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia who abducted Guo Xinzhen were also arrested.
On December 27, 2023, the Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province sentenced the defendant Hufuji to death with a two-year reprieve. The defendant Hufuji was restricted from commuting his sentence; the defendant Tang Lixia was sentenced to life imprisonment for child trafficking.
