A chivalrous person with a soft heart and a happy heart. On the evening of July 15, music director Yu Long conducted the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and used music to tell the Chinese people’s martial arts spirit and chivalrous feelings. At this point, the 2024 Shanghai Summer Music Festival (misa) has come to a successful conclusion.
In the past half month, hundreds of Chinese and foreign musicians have staged 24 live performances at Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall and Shanghai City Music Lawn Plaza in Huangpu District. misa also uses "citywide symphony", misa walk, misa talk, Tai Chi experience, world coffee tour, "imprint Shanghai" exhibition, etc. to organically integrate culture, business and tourism, adding color to Shanghai's summer.
html On the evening of July 15th, Tan Dun's martial arts "Romance", the violin concerto "Hero" composed for the movie of the same name, premiered at the closing concert of the Shanghai Summer Music Festival. Another work premiering at the same concert is Liang Haoyi's "Martial Arts", created by Yu Long and jointly commissioned by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Chengdu Symphony Orchestra and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra.As a composer of film soundtracks such as "Changjin Lake" and "Operation Red Sea", Liang Haoyi, a "post-95s generation", already has his own musical attitude. His "Metaverse" was also performed at the opening concert of the Shanghai Summer Music Festival last year. This time, Liang Haoyi's "Martial Arts" uses five movements to interpret five relatively independent stories, depicting different characters in the world.
The “martial arts” theme runs throughout this year’s festival. Before the closing performance, writer Mao Jian was a guest at misa talk and shared her thoughts on Jin Yong’s world with the audience. On the same day, the Shaolin Temple martial monks also came to unveil the veil of Shaolin Kung Fu. Prior to this, the instructors of "Star Tai Chi" also taught the audience the three basic Tai Chi postures on the spot. From concerts, lectures to one-by-one Kung Fu demonstrations, the music festival has brought martial arts closer to modern people.
