In July last year, the Jing’an District Party Committee’s Veteran Cadres Bureau recommended me to become a volunteer for the senior journalist group in the “Senior Shanghai Morning Shanghai” volunteer service activity organized by the Municipal Veterans Cadres Bureau, the Morning News, and the Municipal Science and Technology Service Center for the Elderly. , and participated in a two-day training in "Qingsong City", obtained the "Senior Citizen Morning Ebony Mission Volunteers" certificate, and started a new volunteer service process after retirement. After a year of practice, I sincerely feel that the team of volunteers from the Laoji League has enriched my retirement life and enriched my spiritual world.
During this year, browsing "Thoughtful Shanghai" for more than an hour every day became a required course for me. The old reporter group is an extraordinary writing master, with quick thinking and rich thoughts. Many teachers are versatile, proficient in music, chess, calligraphy, painting, photography, and videography. The manuscripts they publish have high political standing and rich and colorful content; their writing techniques are novel and unique, their words are meaningful, and their literary talent is high. The massive graphic information is full of positive energy, including inspiring words praising the party and the motherland; there are vows to continue the red blood and always follow the party; there are admirations for the development of the motherland's science and technology; there are canteens for the elderly and sweet treats. There are many beautiful scenes that reflect Shanghai’s life in the early days, such as taking care of the children, tasting delicious food, staying healthy, admiring flowers in the park, and learning and having fun. There are praises for Shanghai’s rapid changes; there are work dynamics of community autonomy and co-governance; there are Traveling around the world shows the magnificent pictures of the great rivers and mountains of the motherland; there are what you have seen and heard during overseas travel; there are reflections on visiting museums, watching movies and TV dramas, and major sports events; there are memories of the past that can be remembered like songs over the years; there are stories of parents who are full of fireworks; Speech that criticizes the current ills and resists the bad tendencies of society; there are also poems and distant places... It has broadened my horizons, expanded my thinking, enhanced my political awareness, increased my knowledge, and improved my structure.
It is my unshirkable responsibility to actively contribute articles to "Thoughtful Shanghai". In accordance with the requirements of the volunteers of the old reporter group, I often go deep into on-site interviews and take photos. After returning home, I write carefully and upload the manuscripts in a timely manner. Whenever my manuscript is adopted by the "Thoughtful Shanghai" platform, I feel happy. The Bureau of Veteran Cadres of the District Party Committee has also always cared about and supported me. The leaders of the bureau specially came to express condolences and hoped that I could reflect more on the various work achievements of the district through the platform of "Thoughtful Shanghai". Some streets often push relevant materials to me and provide news clues. The organization also recorded the number of manuscripts I provided to "Thoughtful Shanghai" as volunteer service hours, which moved me very much and inspired me to be more enthusiastic about writing and submitting articles. I am also very interested in printing and binding the manuscripts I published in "Thoughtful Shanghai" into a volume. Currently, 4 volumes have been bound, each containing more than 120 articles. I read them when I have free time, and I feel a sense of accomplishment.
"Senior Citizens Shanghai·Morning Hai Lao Ji Group Volunteers" has become the spiritual home of our old comrades. The fields cultivated by writing make our "sunset" more prosperous and our old life more colorful. Next, I will redouble my efforts to contribute to the success of "Thoughtful Shanghai". First of all, we must work hard to improve the quality of manuscripts. We must not blindly pursue the number of manuscripts published. We must avoid the mentality of "getting everything out of the basket" and "reluctantly give up" on some manuscripts that are obviously not suitable for publication by "Thoughtful Shanghai". Secondly, you must read the manuscript several times before submitting it, proofread it carefully, and strive for excellence. Next, we must carefully study and explore the manuscripts that have been revised and polished by editors, as well as the excellent works of our colleagues in the veteran journalist group, and continuously improve our writing skills and news sensitivity.
