As an important foundation for the development of the film industry, Shanghai currently has 379 cinemas, with 52 million moviegoers in 2023. According to the plan, in the next three years, Shanghai will focus on building a number of themed theaters with unique characteristics and clear audiences, such as animation theaters, art theaters, and documentary theaters.
