On May 16, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province held a first-instance public hearing on the bribery case of Ji Binchang, the former party secretary and chairman of the Qingdao CPPCC, Shandong Province.
Wuxi Municipal People’s Procuratorate charged: From 2003 to 2022, the defendant Ji Binchang used his position as deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Economic System Reform Office, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Shandong Provincial People’s Government, and Shandong Luxin Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. The convenience of the company’s chairman, director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, deputy governor of Shandong Province, chairman of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Shandong Province, etc. Providing assistance on business operations, project contracting, employee recruitment and other matters, and illegally receiving property directly or through others, totaling more than RMB 526 million. The prosecutor's office requested that he be held criminally responsible for accepting bribes.
During the trial, the procuratorate presented relevant evidence, and the defendant Ji Binchang and his defender conducted cross-examination. Both the prosecution and the defense fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court. Ji Binchang made a final statement and expressed his guilt and repentance in court. .
At the end of the trial, the court adjourned and announced the verdict at a later date.
