The National Ballet of China's "The Red Detachment of Women" has gone through 60 years since its premiere and has been performed more than 4,000 times. The shape of Qionghua's "Kicking the Purple Golden Crown", the heroic dancing postures of the female Red Army soldiers, and the moving melodies of many musical works in the work such as "Wanquan River Water" and "The Women's Army Practice Song" have strong artistic expression and With artistic vitality, it is known as the flagship work of the Chinese ballet school. From May 16th to 17th, the Shanghai stop of this classic's 60th anniversary tour will be held at Wanping Theater.
An old photo and a familiar melody can always bring back people's memories of the old days. When "Qionghua" danced in the "Second Classroom" where many Shanghai audiences grew up, whose memory was awakened? The Wanping Theater, built in 1988, was once known as the "second classroom" for Shanghai's primary, secondary and kindergarten schools. In the process of continuous inheritance and innovation, Wanping Theater is also exploring how to better present the classic work "The Red Detachment of Women" to contemporary audiences. To this end, Wanping Theater and the National Ballet of China have joined hands to transport classic images such as "Qionghua" and "Hong Changqing" in the play, as well as the stage costumes of the "Detachment of Women" characters to Shanghai, and carefully constructed an immersive check-in space in the theater lobby. , so that every audience who steps into the theater can be immersed in the scene and feel the perseverance of the "Women's Army" spirit and unique historical features.
At the same time, the theater also deeply explored the core of "The Red Detachment of Women", which organically combines the essence of Western classical ballet with traditional Chinese art and culture, extracted the most impressive dance moves and song elements in the play, and added them to the repertoire. We have ingeniously planned a series of interactive experience activities: launching ballet workshops and voice training workshops, bringing familiar melodies to the elderly university, and opening ballet basic training for observation on the day of the performance. With the launch of a series of cultural activities, multi-dimensional and in-depth exploration and presentation of "The Red Detachment of Women", Wanping Theater is adding a bright color to the cultural life picture of Shanghai and the whole country in its unique way, continuing to write A new chapter in artistic innovation and cultural heritage.
It is worth mentioning that the performance activated the red gene in Shanghai’s urban historical context and brought out the inextricable connection with the “Detachment of Women”. The film "Red Detachment of Women" produced by Shanghai Film Studio became popular throughout the country in the 1960s. Since then, the movie version of the ballet "The Red Detachment of Women" has also appeared on the screen. The second-generation "Qionghua" from Shanghai was selected for the starring role. The 25-year-old Xue Jinghua won the movie "Kicking the Purple Golden Crown" , freezing a classic scene in the history of Chinese ballet.
