On the evening of May 11, Quzhou’s new Chinese-style musical "Nan Kong" debuted at the Wenzhou Grand Theater. It is reported that this is China’s first musical with a cultural theme of Nan Kong.
"Nan Kong" is directed by Zhong Hao and written by Li Jingrong. Based on the classic historical event of "Kong Zhu surrendered his title", it tells the story of the Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty who ordered the Nanzong of the Kong family, who had settled in Quzhou for a hundred years, to return to Qufu to worship, the 53rd Confucius. The story of Kong Zhu, the eldest son of the eldest son, Yanshenggong, gave up the title of "Yanshenggong" to his younger brother in Qufu in order to protect the world in his heart and his family temple, and then returned to Quzhou to transform himself into an official for the people and spread the sage.
"Outside the water pavilion, the river flows endlessly. The sky is filled with ginkgo trees, looking up at the figure of the saint." The music gradually started, and the curtain slowly opened. Set against the backdrop of traditional Chinese colors such as pearl white, lotus root, light blue, and green, the Southern Confucian Confucianism style blows across your face. During the nearly two-hour performance, the actors created scenes of poetic scenes with rich charm for the audience, making people feel as if they had entered a journey of cultural pursuit across time and space.
